Athletic fields, basketball courts, racquetball courts, roller hockey courts, pickleball courts, Ping-Pong tables, sand volleyball courts, pentaque courts, and tennis courts are available for either walk-on play and/or rentals at Seminole County Parks. Mountain Biking:

Mountain bikers can explore the off-road trails at Soldiers Creek Park.

At the Markham Woods Trailhead, mountain bikers can practice on the Mountain Bike Skills Course or access off-road trails in the adjacent Wekiva River Basin State Park.

Boating is permitted in designated areas only. Please obey posted speed zones and watch for manatees on the St. Johns River. Please see Park and Trail Rules for more information.

Primitive Tent Camping

Black Bear Wilderness Area - Hike-in only. Up to four people. No bathrooms or running water.
Geneva Wilderness Area - Hike-in only. No vehicle access. Group campsite available for up to 40 people, which includes a large pavilion, restrooms, and BBQ grill.
Lake Mills Park - Drive-in, one vehicle per campsite (overflow parking available). Group campsite available.
Mullet Lake Park - Hike-in only. No vehicle access. Group campsite available.

Fishing is permitted in designated areas and only under the provisions, regulations and rules of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Park users are responsible for knowing and adhering to these rules. See individual parks for details.

Lake Mills Park - Paddle on scenic Lake Mills.

Seminole County offers the great game of softball for men, women, co-ed and seniors at various levels of play. Bring your own team or your glove and let us locate a team for you! There are three 10-week league seasons: Winter, Spring, and Fall. Games take place at the Seminole County Softball Complex or Red Bug Lake Park.

Adult Tennis

Tennis is the sport of a lifetime and you are never too old to start. Get some cardiovascular exercise while learning skills and meeting other players. Certified professionals help make tennis lessons fun for players of all abilities, from beginners to those looking for strategic competition.

Levels

  • Beginner: Grips, footwork, forehand and backhand groundstroke's, volleys, and serves will be introduced.
  • Intermediate: Participants will focus on coordinating movement and balance, hitting the ball with purpose and direction, and improvement of their skill level through strengthening of the fundamentals learned in the beginner level.
  • Advanced: Emphasis will be on incorporating skills into playing situations. Top spin and slice will be introduced. Drills and playing situations to include ball movement and control of varying ball speeds with shot anticipation.
  • Strategy: Singles and Doubles. Improve your match results and competitive tennis experience. Doubles to include serve and volley, poaching moving as a team, return strategy, and different formations. Learn the different styles of play and find out what type of game you want to perfect!

Cost: $72 for eight weeks, one hour per week


Pickleball programs are not currently available at Seminole County parks.

Junior Development Program

These sessions include a series of group lessons for all abilities as participants play to learn. Certified professionals help players develop skills, focusing on movement, balance, throwing and catching the ball, and stroke development. As players improve, game concepts and scoring will be introduced. Professionals use United States Tennis Association (USTA) teaching methodology.

Age Groups:

  • 3 and 4-year-olds (36'court, foam balls, 19" & 21" rackets)
  • 5 - 7-year-olds (36'court, red compression ball, 21" & 23" rackets)
  • 8- 10-year-olds (60'court, orange compression ball, 25" rackets)
  • 11+  middle school and high school

Cost: Weekday or Saturday Group Classes, four or five-week sessions, $36 or $45

Junior Training Program

Once young players have developed tennis skills, they may participate in the Junior Training Program with tennis pro approval. The daily format combines instruction with structured drills, practice, and match play. Four levels allow junior players to prepare for tournaments, school teams, and elite competition.

Cost: $52 Month (two hours per week for four weeks)

Adaptive Tennis: Adaptive tennis for young players with autism and special needs is available at Red Bug Lake Park thanks to a partnership with the Posh Rock Tennis Foundation. Certified coaches and volunteers are now providing weekly programs that focus not only on the game, but socialization and physical and mental health. Some players have gone on to compete in the Special Olympics and national competitions.
