About the Seminole County Sports Hall of Fame

Seminole County’s Parks and Recreation Department and the Seminole County Sports Hall of Fame Committee is proud to recognize athletes and sports contributors who have made a difference in Seminole County. Every year, six outstanding male and female athletes and contributors are inducted into the Seminole County Sports Hall of Fame and acknowledged with an award, a feature in a press release, and an annual appreciation event.

Awards

Each year, the Seminole County Sports Hall of Fame Committee inducts several new members in the following categories:

  • Athlete (Male and Female)
  • Contributor (Male and Female)
  • Legacy (Athlete or contributor active prior to 1999)
  • Inclusion (Athlete or contributor with special needs)

How to Nominate

Complete and print this form and return via email to cmero@seminolecountyfl.gov or by mail to Seminole County Sports Hall of Fame Committee, 2200 North Street, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714. All nominations must be submitted by February 28 to be eligible for the current year ballot.

Criteria

To recognize six categories: Female Athlete, Female Contributor, Male Athlete, Male Contributor, Inclusion Award, and Legacy Award. Candidates must meet qualifications for their outstanding contribution or achievement.

Female or Male Athlete

  • Nominee must be or have been a Seminole County resident and attained excellence in athletics, in some capacity, in Seminole County.
  • Nominee must be at least 35 years old and graduated from a high school in Seminole County.
  • Nominee must have represented Seminole County in outstanding athletic achievement at the high school, collegiate, professional and/or amateur level.
  • In addition to athletic achievement, consideration will be placed upon the nominee’s off-the-field character, including sportsmanship, leadership, citizenship, and philanthropy.

Female or Male Contributor

  • Nominee must be a Seminole County resident or have a significant connection with Seminole County athletics.
  • Contributors can include but are not limited to coaches, officials, administrators, financial backers, media, and more.
  • Nominee must have served the community for a minimum of seven years.
  • Nominees will have made a significant contribution to Seminole County in sports and athletics.
  • Nominee’s character, leadership, citizenship, and philanthropy will also play a role in the selection process.

Inclusion Award (Male or Female)

  • Nominee must be or have been a Seminole County resident and attained excellence in athletics, in some capacity, in Seminole County.
  • There is no age restriction for the Inclusion Award.
  • Nominee must have represented Seminole County in outstanding achievement at a sports organization that assists those with intellectual, developmental or other special needs.
  • In addition to athletic or contributory achievement, consideration will be placed upon the nominee’s off-the-field character, including sportsmanship, leadership, citizenship, and philanthropy.

Legacy Award (Male or Female)

  • This award is recognizes those male or female athletes or contributors who were active prior to 1999 but are only now being recognized for their prior contributions.
  • Nominee must be or have been a Seminole County resident and attained excellence is athletics or athletic contributions, in some capacity, in Seminole County.
  • There is no age restriction for the Legacy Award.
  • Nominee must have represented Seminole County in outstanding achievement at the high school, collegiate, professional and/or amateur level.
  • In addition to athletic achievement, consideration will be placed upon the nominee’s off-the-field character, including sportsmanship, leadership, citizenship, and philanthropy.

Recognition

Upon being selected, the Committee will contact the recipient and recognize him/her with a plaque at the Seminole County Night of Champions in May. A press release will also be shared with local media.
