Top Rated in the Nation for Fire Response
Effective February 1, 2022, Seminole County homeowners and local business owners may qualify to receive a lower insurance renewal rate as a result of the ISO Class 1 rating earned by the Seminole County Fire Department (SCFD).
This is the highest possible rating to be received by the Public Protection Classification® from the Insurance Services Office. This rating places SCFD in the top .001% of the more than 40,000 fire departments in the nation rated by ISO.
The Seminole County Fire Department’s top ISO-1* rating means more safety and peace of mind for residents and businesses, as well as possible lower insurance premiums.
Important to note: Your insurance rates may not change due to this new ISO rating, and it is solely dependent upon your individual insurance carrier.

ISO (or Insurance Services Office) gives fire departments a 1–10 rating regarding their ability to effectively respond to and prevent fires. A lower number rating means that a fire department is performing to higher standards. More specifically, an ISO Class 1 rating represents an exemplary fire suppression program.
It is reviewed through the Public Protection Classification® program. ISO’s purpose is to help communities evaluate their public fire-protection services in order to be held to high national standards.
Most insurance companies use this rating system to determine the fire insurance rates for both residential and commercial properties within a community. Communities with an ISO 1 ranking are afforded the lowest fire insurance rates.
