On September 23, 2014, Seminole County Resolution #2014-R-182 was adopted by the Seminole County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). All fee changes contained within this resolution (with the exception of annual pet license fees) will become effective as of October 1, 2014, which signifies the beginning of the County’s fiscal year.

The Animal Services Division is providing a transition period for the new pet license fees, and therefore will continue to charge the existing $6 for sterilized pets, and $11 for unsterilized during the entire month of October 2014. Updated written notices will be sent at the end of that month to our customers, and the new pet license fees will become effective as of November 1, 2014. The new annual license for sterilized pets (including dogs, cats and ferrets) will be reduced to $5.00, and the annual license for unsterilized pets (including dogs, cats and ferrets) will be increased to $25.00.

Effective September 1, 2014, Seminole County Animal Services (SCAS) will only accept those animals that were found within Seminole County and have been brought to our shelter by Seminole County residents (photo identification is required). While this policy is intended to cover the processing of stray animals received over the counter, it also covers owner-surrendered animals unless those same animals had been adopted from our shelter. This policy does not affect the adoption process, which remains open to the general public.
For the purposes of public safety, it is highly recommended that any person that observes stray animals within Seminole County should avoid contact with same and immediately report the situation to our shelter. It also remains the responsibility of residents of other counties to locate resources for their owned animals within their own municipalities, and to locate other options that may be available to them if they were to travel to Seminole County. Please be sure to contact our shelter at phone #407-665-5201 with any questions regarding this policy.
