Information for waiver of Building Permit and Plan Review fees for structures damaged by Hurricanes Ian and Nicole

At its November 15, 2022 meeting, the Board of County Commissioners waived building permit and plan review fees related to the repair and reconstruction of commercial and residential structures that sustained damage directly from Hurricanes Ian and Nicole.

The request for permit and plan review must meet the following requirements:

  • Application for a building permit requesting a waiver of permit and plan review fees for storm related damage must be submitted within six (6) months of November 15, 2022
  • Application for a building permit requesting a waiver of permit and plan review fees for storm related damage must be issued no later than July 15, 2023
  • Applicants must provide proof of storm-related damage
  • Applicants must complete a Hurricane Damage Verification Affidavit
  • Fee waiver shall only apply to the reconstruction and repair of the structure to its previously permitted condition

The waiver of the building permit and plan review fees shall not apply to re-inspection fees; after-hours inspection and after-hours plan review fees; surcharges imposed by the State; Health Department fees; mobility or impact fees; water and sewer fees; copy fees; uploading fees; Notice of Commencement filing fees; and the Pre-power Agreement fee.
