Riders should wear helmets, maintain a safe speed, and ride at their own risk. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Mountain bikers can practice obstacles that mimic those they face on off-road trails at the Mountain Bike Skills Course at Markham Woods Trailhead. The course contains several types of features, including bridges, balance beams, berms, a teeter-totter, and a “log over” feature.
The idea for a Mountain Bike Skills Course was dreamt up by members from SORBA Orlando (the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association) and the Leisure Services Department. Teaming up with SORBA was a natural partnership, as dedicated volunteers from SORBA already help to maintain the State’s off-road trails at Markham Woods, as well as County-owned trails at Soldiers Creek Park. Volunteers from SORBA will continue to maintain this course.
