Natural Lands

Seminole County's Lake Jesup Park and Boat Ramp and the Lake Jesup Wilderness Area will be closed for parking lot and boat ramp asphalt resurfacing and restriping on Monday and Tuesday May 21st and 22nd, 2018. The park will re-open on Wednesday, May 23rd, 2018. We apologize for any inconvenience.

The Natural Lands Program was established in 1990 by a voter approved referendum.  The money was used to purchase lands for the purposes of preservation, recreation and education. The Natural Lands now consist of over 6,600 acres of preserved land. The largest parcels are called wilderness areas.

Preservation
There are eight wilderness areas and one preserve that are open to the public. Integral to the goals and objectives for managing acquired lands in an acceptable manner are protection and restoration of the natural resources present. An important element in protecting the resources is to prevent dumping, poaching, and other illegal activities. Appropriate land management activities, such as prescribed burning, forest management, resource monitoring, and removal of exotics, are implemented to protect the viability of the Natural Lands Properties.

The Natural Lands Progam offers a variety of programs and activities for all ages including field trips for schools, eco-camp, eco-adventure programs, and hikes.

RIP Precious 1998 - 2018

It is with a heavy heart the Natural Lands Program (NLP) announces the passing of Precious the Pine Snake. Precious has been a part of the NLP since she was a mere hatchling in 1998 and was an exemplary ambassador for both our program and all snake kind! In her twenty years of service She was handled by thousands of program participants and was often the very first snake many had ever touched or handled. While we’ve had many snakes in our program Precious was special and will be greatly missed.
