4-H Scholarships

Careers in Agriculture College Scholarship

Through the generous donation of a local 4-H family, the Seminole County 4-H  Program offers the Careers in Agriculture College Scholarship  to Juniors and Seniors in High School intending to pursue a career in animal science, agriculture or horticulture. 4-H members are eligible to apply and win this scholarship twice and win a total of $1,000 over the two years. The scholarship packet consists of an application, two letters of recommendation (not a relative), and a two page narrative. Selected youth will be scheduled for an interview. Awards are announced during the Annual Awards Night.

Area East Horse Program College Scholarship

Each year the Area East Horse Advisory Committee sponsors a college scholarship in the amount of $500.00. This scholarship is open to any 4-H member in the Area East Horse Program who is a Junior or Senior in high school. Applications will be screened and top applicants will be asked to interview. 

 Scholarship applications available Spring 2022.

The scholarship packet consists of an application, two letters of recommendation (not a relative) and a two page narrative.  Selected youth will be scheduled for an interview. Awards are announced during the Annual Awards Night.

Seminole County 4-H Horse Program College Scholarship

Through the fundraisers and activities of the Seminole County 4-H Horse Program, the Seminole County 4-H Horse Program offers College Scholarships to Juniors and Seniors in High School. 4-H members are eligible to apply and win this scholarship twice and win a total of $1,000 over the two years. The scholarship packet consists of an application, two letters of recommendation (not a relative) a two page narrative, and a completed copy of the Florida 4-H Horse Record Book. Selected youth will be scheduled for an interview. Awards are announced during the Annual Awards Night.

S. Wilkens, Seminole County 4-H College Scholarship

Established in the 2010-2011 4-H Year, the Seminole County 4-H Program awards one college scholarship in the amount of $500. This scholarship is open to all current Seminole County 4-H members who are Juniors and Seniors in High School. The scholarship application will consists of an application, a two page narrative, and two letters of recommendation (not a relative). The two page narrative will consist of a description of how your 4-H experience will impact your future career choices. This scholarship is in honor of Ms. Shelda Wilkens' service to Seminole County 4-H as a 4-H agent.

Barbara A. Hughes, Seminole County 4-H College Scholarship

Established in the 2018-2019 4-H year, the Seminole County 4-H Program awards one college scholarship in honor of Barbara A. Hughes, retired UF IFAS Extension Seminole County Director. This scholarship is open to all current Seminole County 4-H members who are Juniors or Seniors in high school. The scholarship application consists of an application, a two page narrative, and two letters of recommendation.

Florida 4-H College Scholarships and National Award Trips

The Florida 4-H Foundation offers a number of college scholarships to eligible 4-H members. Applying for these scholarships include the completion of a Florida 4-H State Portfolio, a narrative, a personal resume using the "What are my Skills" worksheet, official high school transcripts, and two letters of recommendation. Selected individuals will be scheduled for an interview during the State 4-H University in Gainesville, FL, typically in July.

The Florida 4-H Foundation also provides eligible 4-H members an opportunity to attend National 4-H Congress and/or National 4-H Conference. Applying for these award trips is similar to applying for one of the Florida 4-H College Scholarships. Applicants will submit a Florida 4-H Sate Portfolio, a narrative, and a personal resume using the "What are my skills?" worksheet. Selected individuals will be scheduled for an interview during the State 4-H University in Gainesville, FL typically in July.  For more information, check out the Florida 4-H State Portfolio website.

 

Florida 4-H Horseman of the Year

The Florida 4-H Horse Program sponsors the Florida 4-H Horseman of the Year award and scholarship. The application includes a Florida 4-H State Portfolio, a narrative, a personal resume using the "What are my skills?" worksheet, official high school transcripts, two letters of recommendation, and finally a completed Florida 4-H Horse Record Book. Selected individuals will be scheduled for an interview during the Florida 4-H State Horse Events in Gainesville, FL, typically in June.
