RURAL AREA NON-RESIDENTIAL DESIGN STANDARDS COMMUNITY MEETING

RURAL AREA NON-RESIDENTIAL DESIGN STANDARDS

The portion of Seminole County east of Sanford and Oviedo has been designated as the East Rural Area, where homes are relatively far apart and a “country” atmosphere has been preserved.  Seminole County’s Comprehensive Plan includes policies that call for protection of this Rural character through special development requirements for a variety of items including landscaping, fences, signs, and building design.

alt textThe Seminole County Planning & Development Division will be holding a Community Meeting seeking your input on potential design standards for commercial and other non-residential buildings within the East Rural Area. These standards would ensure that such buildings are compatible with the Rural character of the area.  Design elements may include, but are not limited to:

  • Building materials and colors
  • Roof design and construction
  • Doors
  • Awnings

The Draft Recommendations can be found here.

Rural Area residents are important stakeholders in these issues, and you are invited to participate in a Community Meeting with County staff to share your thoughts.

This meeting will be held on August 26, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. in the Rural Heritage Center, 101 E. Main Street, Geneva FL 32732.  If you have any questions, you are welcome to contact Jeff Hopper at (407) 665-7377 or by email at jhopper@seminolecountyfl.gov.

Thank you for getting involved.
