Deadline for accepting Preliminary Applications for SHIP Down Payment Assistance (DPA)

The Community Development have put a temporary halt to pulling names off our SHIP Down Payment Assistance (DPA) waiting list. If any of the households that received a commitment letter do not close on a home by the expiration date on the letter, we will pull more names and encumber only those funds.  I anticipate that we will allocate new funds to the SHIP DPA program around the end of the first quarter of 2022.

Further, we will no longer be accepting Preliminary Applications after the close of business on Friday, January 14, 2022. We will re-evaluate the waiting list after we begin pulling names for eligibility as we do not want new applicants placed on a waiting list where their wait time is unreasonable.  We will adjust our website to reflect this change and will notify lenders and the public again as to when we open the waiting list.

Please note that, when we pull names again from the waiting list, we will reach out to the applicant directly for all required SHIP documents that will determine income eligibility. You will be notified that your client has been pulled for income qualifying but it will be the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that we receive what is needed for the file. Once the household is determined income eligible, you will receive a copy of the Commitment Letter and we will wait for a Sales Contract from you and/or the buyer. Once a sales contract is received, we will reach out to you to start the closing process.

You and your client are welcome to inquire at anytime as to his/her status on the waiting list. Those inquiries should be directed to Dominique McCloud at (407) 665-2390 or dmccloud@seminolecountyfl.gov. Any pre-applications, up until close of business on January 14, 2022, should be sent to her attention as well.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to administer all of the SHIP Housing Programs.
