The Seminole County Office of Emergency Management, in cooperation with the National Weather Service in Melbourne, will be hosting a Basic SKYWARN Spotter Training Class on Saturday, September 7th.
SKYWARN Training is geared towards anyone with an interest in public safety and communications during extreme weather events. SKYWARN is a program developed and taught by National Weather Service (NWS) meteorologists and consists of trained weather spotters who report severe and hazardous weather to help in the weather warning process. SKYWARN Spotter reports provide vital "ground truth" to the NWS.
The class is FREE and last approximately two hours.
