Cross Seminole Trail will run from the I-4 Pedestrian Bridge in Lake Mary
to Howell Branch Road at the Orange County line. The trail corridor will
pass through Lake Mary, the Spring Hammock Preserve, the City of Winter
Springs, and the City of Oviedo and will connect to the Cady
Way trail in Orange County. The built portions run from CR 46A south to Green Way

LENGTH: When
complete, the trail will be 24 miles long. Currently two sections, approximately
9.8 miles each are built and open for use.
STATUS: The Cross Seminole Trail is now open from just north of Old Sanford Oviedo Road near Winter Springs along the FPL power cut to Osprey Trail Road at SR 419. After crossing SR 419 the trail runs through Spring Hammock Wilderness Area and emerges at the US 17-92 overpass. Once over the overpass the trail then runs parallel to General Hutchinson Parkway, past Big Tree Park to Ronald Regan Boulevard, then turning south along the Ronald Reagan sidewalk to the Longwood Lake Mary Boulevard intersection crossing at the signal. It connects to a wide sidewalk along Longwood Lake Mary Boulevard to and then crossing Green Way Boulevard. Finally the trail turns west along GreenWay Boulevard to the existing “Crossings Trail” section.
Construction is almost complete between Mikler and Red Bug Lake Road and it is scheduled to open by the end of May 2009. A design/build pedestrian overpass over Red Bug Lake Road with a connection to SR 426 just south of the Marketplace Boulevard Intersection near the Oviedo Mall is currently on hold. Trail users shall use the signalized intersections and sidewalks along SR 426 to the trail on the west side of SR 426 just south of Aulin Avenue. This segment, from SR 426 to SR 434 near downtown Oviedo, is also scheduled to be completed by the end of May 2009. The trail section from SR 434 to Downtown Oviedo and Division Street is on hold pending Oviedo’s redevelopment plans for the area.
Currently the southern section Cross Seminole Trail ends at Layer Elementary School on SR 419 in Winter Springs. The County is currently in the process of coordinating the completion of the trail between Layer Elementary School and the existing trail east of Old Sanford Oviedo Road, where the northern section currently ends. Please check the Construction Updates and Announcements sections for updates as this project progresses.
Along the trail near Black Hammock Trailhead you will find the "Trails Around the World" exhibit, located adjacent to the Cross Seminole Trail just west of SR 417. The exhibit profiles County Wicklow, Seminole's sister county in Ireland.
