Pond Maintenance

Stormwater is responsible for "functional maintenance" of over 460 retention ponds throughout the County.  Functional maintenance may include dredging, vegetation removal, bank stabilization, and maintenance or repair of drainage structures.  Most of the dredging is performed with our tracked excavator, along with a small front-end loader.

Some contracted pond cleaning is done throughout the year depending on staff workload.  Ponds are periodically inspected to insure they are functioning as designed.  Information on the ponds is kept in a database for permit and maintenance purposes.
