Spring Lake Restoration Project Saturday, April 26, 2008 Thanks to the 65 participants who contributed over 350 hours of volunteer service. We had great fun restoring ecosystems! Volunteers took boat rides across Spring Lake to work on several different areas. The residents surprised us with a full catered lunch! We were joined by Seminole Community College students and employees, Lake Brantley High School Band, Starbucks employees, Florida DEP volunteers, Spring Valley Homeowners Association, and Seminole Community Volunteer Program. Myrtle Lake Restoration Project Saturday, May 10, 2008 and Saturday, May 17, 2008 We had a sunny and muddy time out at Myrtle Lake. Volunteers helped to plant the shoreline and to establish functional habitats. Over time, we will see a miraculous change in this lake. Thanks to Lake Brantley students, Summit Church, Boy Scout Troop 263, Lyman High School Muscles To Go, Northland Church, the Myrtle Lake Homeowners Association, and all of the families and individual volunteers. The homeowners surprised us with hotdogs and sodas! Thanks for the hard work!		View	View
Econ Cleanup Watershed Action Volunteers worked on a conservation project to help restore native habitats in the Econ Forest on Saturday, March 29, 2008. Twenty-five participants removed invasive Coral Ardisia, Camphor and Caesarweed. Afterward, we took a hike back along the beautiful Econ River. Many thanks to all of the hard-working volunteers! Central Florida Zoo Endangered Air Plant Survey On January 20, 2007, volunteers assisted naturalist and zoo horticulturist, Steve Decresie, in the endangered species survey of the Central Florida Zoo wetlands adjacent to the St. Johns River.  Volunteers and staff were looking for Tillandsia utriculata (Giant Wild Pine) and other endangered air plants.  Special thanks to Jackie Rolly for volunteering and for these pictures. Lake Amory Revegetation Project On March 31, and on April 7, 2007, a total of 40 volunteers, residents, and staff worked hard together to restore Lake Amory in Sanford. Thanks for all of your efforts in beautifyling the shoreline and in providing animal habitat by replanting with native duck potato, pickerelweed, and buttonbush.  You contributed 215 volunteer hours to the environment		View	View
Lake Seminary Restoration Project The Lake Seminary Restoration Project was a fun day on boats in the sun.  34 volunteers, residents and homeowners removed invasive Malaleuca from the shoreline.  Thanks for helping us remove three huge trailers full of the invasive tree before it had the chance to completely ruin our native habitat. Spring Lake Vegetation Project 53 participants worked on the revegetation of the Spring Lake shoreline on June 23, 2007.  We put forth 288 hours of work planting with pickerelweed and duck potato.  Volunteers and residents worked alongside biologists to learn how to restore and maintain a shoreline habitat.  Great work! Mirror Lake Cleanups Thanks to the many volunteers who have helped to remove torpedo grass and other invasive plants and debris from the Mirror Lake shoreline.  We have hosted several cleanups here and have seen a great impact thanks to your efforts!		View	View
Lake Brantley Snail Pickup 36 Watershed Action Volunteers contributed 218 hours of service to restoring the ecosystem of Lake Brantley in Longwood on August 11, 2007.  LBHS student, Charlie Geier, organized the event and countless numbers of invasive Channeled Apple Snails and their eggs were removed.  The snails decimate lake vegetation and outcompete native species.  Seminole Audubon society fed our collected snails to their endangered Everglades Snail Kite! Motorola Stormdrain Marking Motorola volunteers made a huge impact in our community in October, 2007, by marking the stormdrains all up and down Lake Mary Boulevard.  They collected all kinds of garbage from the roadway and helped to beautify our area and to make it safer for the creatures who live here.  Thanks to the 39 participants who contributed 195 volunteer hours, marked 311 stormdrains, and collected 58 bags of litter! Lake Monroe Incredible Family Day Cleanup Families and organizations came together on November 17, 2007 to clean up Lake Monroe shoreline (the St. Johns River).  The event was hosted by WAV and Seminole County Volunteer Program and an Incredibles grant.  99 volunteers and staff collected 70 bags of litter, 15 bags of cigarette butts, old tires, abandoned appliances, all kinds of rubbish!  Thanks volunteers! Project WET Disney Preserve See photos of the Project WET workshop at the Disney Wilderness Preserve.  SJRWMD staff lead a group through the wetlands at the preserve to model authentic learning experiences.		View	View
Tuskawilla Stormdrain Marking The residents of Tuskawilla Point neighborhood and some other dedicated WAVs labeled stormdrains and placed doorhangers to educate the community about stormwater runoff.  We knocked out the whole neighborhood in a couple of hours with wonderful results.		View	View
Sweetwater Stormdrain Marking Residents of Sweetwater and other WAVs helped label and replace old stormdrain markers in the Longwood neighborhood.  Families, students, and individuals worked to educate our community about stormwater runoff.		View	View
