MOSQUITO CONTROL PROGRAM

Common Questions (FAQ)

These are some answers to common questions about the Mosquito Control Program.

GENERAL
The Question:
There are no ponds or swamps near my home, but there are mosquitoes in my yard. Why?

The Answer:

Seminole County has 4 dozen different mosquito species.  One of the most infamous is the Aedes albopictus (Asian Tiger Mosquito).

This mosquito prefers containers to lay their eggs.  There may be animal watering dishes, flower pots, birdbaths, or even trash that can hold water and allow for mosquitoes to develop.

Our suggestion is to check your yard every few days and dump out any water standing and to eliminate containers and other things that will hold water.

Mosquitoes need water to develop from eggs.
