The Sidewalk Program is a special project of the Seminole County Engineering Division.

WHAT IS THE SIDEWALK PROGRAM?
The Sidewalk Program was developed by overwhelming voter support of the 2nd Generation One-Cent Sales Tax Program. By building new sidewalks, the Sidewalk Program enhances mobility, but the predominate function of the program is to provide a safe passage for pedestrians, especially children.

The Question:

4. What happens to the landscaping and sprinkler systems in the County right-of-way?

The Answer:

The policy involving landscaping / irrigation systems within the right-of-way has evolved from one of years ago of digging them up and depositing them on the residents lawn to now working to preserve and enhance the neighborhood. All functional sprinkler systems are repaired and every effort made to avoid destroying landscaping in the rights-of-way. If landscaping is impacted, then it is replaced by the County. All of the above impacts are paid for by the County. There will be times when mature landscaping will need to be replaced with a less mature specimen due to availability and costs.

	1. How is the funding for this program provided?
	2. How are priorities developed?
	3. Do sidewalks go on both or one side of the roadway?
	4. What happens to the landscaping and sprinkler systems in the County right-of-way?
	5. There may be conditions such as new schools, major developments or other factors that affect priorities. How do these factors get evaluated?
	6. The Dirt Road Paving Program allowed residents to "opt out." Does this "opt out" option exist for the Sidewalk Program?
