BACKGROUND:
PURPOSE OF THE
RURAL LANDS STUDY
To review the effectiveness
of current Rural Area Protection measures
provided by Seminole County for Geneva
, Black Hammock and Rural
Chuluota communities.
- Included a review of the goals,
objectives and policies within the Seminole
County Comprehensive Plan and regulations
for rural development in the Land
Development Code.
- The Study assessed the need to
maintain and strengthen the rural character
and may propose changes to Comprehensive
Plan policies or regulations to implement
these changes.

Rural Area Study - Board of County Commissioner's
Briefing - July 26, 2005
On Thursday, February 24,
2005 the second advertised public workshop
was held at Oviedo High School. Participants
reviewed proposed strategies to preserve the
character of the rural area and provided feedback
to Staff.
On Tuesday, November 30, 2004 an advertised
public workshop was held at the Geneva Elementary
School. Participants divided into three area
discussion groups - Black Hammock, Chuluota
and Geneva - to discuss what they felt was
special about their portion of the rural area
and to express issues and concerns they felt
affect the area.
