Vacate & Abandonment
of a Plat
Requests for the Vacate and Abandonment of
a Plat located within the unincorporated areas
of Seminole County requires review by County
Staff, public notice, and approval from the
Board of County Commissioners at an advertised
Public Hearing.
The application must be accompanied by proof
of publication (advertised twice) of notice
of intent to vacate a plat per Florida Statute
177.101 and letters of approval / disapproval
from all utility companies that service the
area.
The amount of time required for the processing
of a request for Vacation and Abandonment
depends on the type of request, submittal
of required documents, and scheduling of the
request for Board of County Commission action
at a required meeting. That time may vary
from several weeks to a few months.
After approval by the Board of County Commissioners,
the Final Resolution is recorded in the public
records. Please note that all recording
fees will be paid by the applicant.
If, after submittal of your application, you
should have any questions regarding the Vacate
and Abandonment process, please contact Seminole
County Development Review Division at 407-665-7331.
