LT Dave Grant, Seminole County Fire Department was selected as
July 2017 Employee of the Month.
During the month of June, Lieutenant Dave Grant went above and beyond the duties of a company officer. His responsibility for Red Hot & Boom was the Logistics officer. This was a high demanding job. Dave spent numerous hours making sure all equipment was ordered and in place prior to the event. Dave worked hours after the event making sure all equipment was accounted for and ready for use the next day. I personally worked with Dave during this time and witnessed all that he did to make sure all personnel had the needed equipment prior to event. Even though the event was July 3rd, Dave started in early June preparing. Not once did Dave complain about the long hours he spent preparing for this event. He was a true leader. Dave not only did a great job, he volunteered to be the Logistics officer. Dave also spent hours calling personnel on his days off and came in the day before the event to make sure all was prepared. Dave worked hand and hand with Battalion Chief Steiner in making sure equipment was ordered and delivered prior to the event. An example is all the golf carts that were used by personnel had to be staged prior to the event and after the event, they were inspected for damage and staged for pick up. During the entire month of June while preparing for this event, Dave continued to run his station and ride as Tech1.
During the month of July, Dave has taken the lead role in developing the first video (PIA) Post Incident Analysis. This analysis is typically completed after large fires etc. Usually the PIA is a written document. Dave spent numerous hours working with SGTV to develop a video that had all key officers in the fire explaining what they did/saw. Dave did an excellent job lining up the interviews and helping with editing the video. Soon this video will be on Target Safety for all to watch and learn from. Dave’s hard work on this project is just another example of his commitment to his job.
