Small Business Startup Checklist
Steps to Remember!

Conduct the appropriate research on your industry, target market, and competition. |

Determine your company’s legal structure. |

Choose and register your business name. |

Check State licensing requirements through the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation. |

Contact the Seminole County Tax Collector to obtain a Seminole County Business Tax Receipt. Required for anyone doing business in Seminole County. |

|
If your business is located within city limits, contact the city government to obtain any necessary business tax receipts and/or permits. |
|
|
Verify any operating restrictions that your business location may have (e.g. local HOA covenants and restrictions and/or county/city zoning laws). |
|
|
If necessary, acquire a Federal Employer Identification Number. |
|
|
If you have, or plan to have, employees, review State and Federal labor regulations. |
|
|
Explore any necessary financing options for your business. |
|
|
Meet with an accountant, attorney and insurance agent to ensure your business’ success. |
|
|
Get involved with the local business community by joining networking organizations and/or Chambers of Commerce. |
