SEMINOLE COUNTY'S LEISURE SERVICES EXPAND PARTNERSHIPS TO BETTER SERVE RESIDENTS

Sanford, FL 32771 - October 29, 2009 - Seminole County Board of County Commissioners approved resolutions establishing youth scholarships and approving sponsorships for recreation programs at the board meeting held on October 27, 2009.
Scholarship Seminole allows county youth the opportunity to participate in recreational programming regardless of economic status. The goal is to provide scholarship opportunities to youth that are in need of financial assistance and are willing to give back to the community through volunteer involvement.
The Sponsorship Program allows for the Leisure Services Department to work with businesses and non-profit organizations to enhance resources, off-set departmental operational expenditures, and provide expanded services to citizens. The goal of the program is to create relationships and partnerships with sponsors for mutual financial and program benefit.
"The new scholarship and sponsorship programs create even more opportunity for our county residents to connect, and enjoy our natural treasures and open spaces," says Joseph Abel, Leisure Service Director.
