SERVICE CHANGE EFFECTIVE DATE INFORMATION
UPGRADE - A service "upgrade" is a service change that adds services and increases the amount of the annual assessment. The new assessment amount will be displayed when you select your new service option. A prorated charge for the service upgrade, to cover the increased expense for the balance of the current service year, will be calculated and added to your next property tax bill. A confirmation of the requested service change with notification of the prorated upgrade amount will be mailed to you (property owner).
Service upgrades may be requested at any time during the year. The requested upgrade will be effective within five (5) business days.
DOWNGRADE - A service "downgrade" is a service change that removes services and decreases the amount of the annual assessment. The new assessment amount will be displayed when you select your new service option. A confirmation of the requested change will be mailed to you (property owner).
Service downgrades are processed annually when preparing the annual assessment roll for collection via the property tax bill. The effective dated of a service downgrade is dependent on when the change request is submitted. For example:
If your request is made BEFORE September 1, 2014 the assessment change is included on the 2014 property tax
bill and is effective January 1, 2015.
If your request is made AFTER September 1, 2014 the assessment change is included on the 2015 property tax
bill and takes effect January 1, 2016.
Please Note: When Downgrading from (2) household garbage collection days per week (Option 1 or 2) to
(1) household garbage collection day per week (Option 3 or 4), the new collection day will be the later day of the week.
For example, if your household garbage is now collected on Tuesday and Friday, then Friday is the new collection day for once a week collection.
