 Frequently Asked Questions

STREET LIGHTING
The Question:
2. How are locations of the street light poles determined?

The Answer:
Street light installation plans are engineered by the power companies to provide optimum adequate nighttime lighting for enhanced street safety.  Lights/poles are spaced accordingly along the street to meet those safety guidelines and in accordance with Illuminating Engineering Standards (IES).  The style of lighting equipment, pole height and wattage influence the lighting location.
