FCS Central Florida Food Safety Education Partnership

In 1998, representatives from agencies and organizations throughout Central Florida came together to communicate food safety basics to consumers. This partnership was known as “Operation Fight BAC” with the goal to make the public aware of safe food handling. This consumer education group has grown to include members from county and state departments of health and University of Florida/IFAS Extension agents from five Central Florida counties: Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake and Brevard as well as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Publix and others.  As time went by, the name was change to the Central Florida Food Safety Education Partnership to better reflect the goal of the group and the geographical makeup of our members.

As a kick-off to National Food Safety Month (Sept) we participate in Food Safety Days at local grocery stores. We provide awareness and educational materials to shoppers,
