WATER
The Seminole
County Water Division pumps, treats, and delivers
drinking
water to almost 33,600 residential and commercial
accounts through 550 miles of water
mains in unincorporated Seminole County.
The nine water treatment plants produce a
maximum capacity of 37 million gallons of
water per day. Providing you with safe, high
quality drinking water is our highest priority.
We collect and test about 3200 water samples
for bacteria each year as well as numerous
samples for other chemical parameters to
ensure the safety of your water. Other health
and safety features of the water system include
addition of fluoride, using hypochlorite
instead of chlorine for disinfection, corrosion
control for pipes, and maintaining pressure
in over 1,900 fire hydrants.
