Seminole County is involved in a multi-county EMS Protocol Program with other Counties in Central Florida. This concept allows continuity of care in the metropolitan Orlando area. A group of EMS experts from each participating agency work in conjunction with their Medical Directors to develop the protocols. The protocols are evaluated periodically and modified to keep pace with changes in medical care.

The EMS Quality Assurance Program is the interagency coordination point for the Seminole County Emergency Medical (EMS) System.

Medical Quality Assurance will endeavor to improve the efficiency of the Seminole County EMS System through the application of sound medical Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI). We will enhance the effectiveness of the Seminole County EMS System through the application of the best methodologies and techniques in EMS.

Three part process:

  1. Each agency does a preliminary review of all their EMS Patient Care Reports, checking for completeness, protocol and billing information compliance.

  2. On a monthly basis each agency forwards to the EMS Quality Assurance Program, all Patient Care Reports that meet five (5) critical indicators as set by the system Medical Director.

  3. Major Event Reviews - as needed or requested.
