Paying Fines at Circulation Desk

Library Card Registration Policy (PDF)

Customers must be registered in the library’s computer database to check out materials.

Materials designated circulating may be checked out for 3 weeks. Fourteen (14) days for High Demand materials. There is no grace period. Overdue fines begin accumulating the day after the due date.

A maximum of 25 items can be checked out on a patron’s account.

New library card patrons can check out 3 books on the first check out. When those three books are returned the patron can have the allotted limit of 25 books.

An item that does not have a hold on it may be renewed up to 3 times.

A patron can put a hold on a new title or on an item which is currently checked out. When a new book is ready for circulation or when a book is returned to the library, the book will be available for the patron.

Fines and fees will be charged on overdue, damaged, and lost materials according to Seminole County Board of County Commissioners Resolution 2011-R-228.

A patron must have less than a $5.00 account balance to use library services.

Borrowing privileges, Internet privileges, hold privileges, and renewal privileges will be suspended if there is a balance on a library account. Privileges will be restored when the patron has a zero balance account.

Accounts with a balance of $50.00 and over that have been overdue for 90 days will be sent to a collection agency.  At the time the account is referred to the collection agency, a collection fee of $8.95 will be added to the balance.

Materials may be checked out with a valid library card at any library branch of the Seminole County Public Library System. Materials may be returned to any library branch in the county.

Lake County residents, with a valid library card from their county, may register for a Seminole County Library card and borrow materials according to the terms of the Interlocal Agreement for Reciprocal Borrowing between Seminole County and Lake County. A reciprocal borrowing card allows only the lending of materials over-the-counter at the branch libraries.

Based on availability of and demand for materials, limits may be placed on certain items by the Library Director.
