4-H Scholarships

District VIII 4-H College Scholarship

This year the District VIII 4-H Council will offer four $250 college scholarships. These scholarships are available to Seniors in high school. Applications will be screened and top applications will be asked to interview during a District Council. In addition to the application you must write a short narrative on how your involvement in 4-H has made a difference to you. You are also required to submit two (2) reference forms, one of which must come from your 4-H agent.  Applications are due in date and time TBA.

Area D Horse Program College Scholarship

Each year the Area D Horse Advisory Committee sponsors a college scholarship in the amount of $250.00. This scholarships is open to any 4-H member in the Area D Horse Program who is a Junior or Senior in high school. Applications will be screened and top applicants will be asked to interview on Friday evening of the Area D Horse Show. In addition to the Florida 4-H Portfolio you must provide a 4-H Resume, a 3 page narrative, official or unofficial high school transcripts, and two letters of recommendation (1 from your 4-H Agent and 1 from a Guidance Counselor, Teacher or Instructor).

General Seminole County 4-H College Scholarship

Through the fund raisers and activities of the Seminole County 4-H County Council, the Seminole County 4-H Program offers College Scholarships to Juniors and Seniors in High School. 4-H members are eligible to apply and win this scholarship twice and win a total of $1,000 over the two years. The scholarship packet consists of an application, two letters of recommendation (not a relative) and a two page narrative. The two page narrative will consist of an explanation of how your participation in 4-H has made a difference in your life. Selected youth will be scheduled for an interview. Awards are announced during the Annual Awards Night.

Seminole County 4-H Horse Program College Scholarship

Through the fundraisers and activities of the Seminole County 4-H Horse Program, the Seminole County 4-H Horse Program offers College Scholarships to Juniors and Seniors in High School. 4-H members are eligible to apply and win this scholarship twice and win a total of $1,000 over the two years. The scholarship packet consists of an application, two letters of recommendation (not a relative) a two page narrative, and a completed copy of the Florida 4-H Horse Record Book. The two page narrative will consist of an explanation of how your participation in the Seminole County 4-H Horse Program has made a difference in your life. Selected youth will be scheduled for an interview. Awards are announced during the Annual Awards Night. Applications for the Seminole County 4-H Horse Program College Scholarship are due date and time TBA

S. Wilkens, Seminole County 4-H College Scholarship

Established in the 2010-2011 4-H Year, the Seminole County 4-H Program awards one college scholarship in the amount of $500. This scholarship is open to all current Seminole County 4-H members who are Juniors and Seniors in High School. The scholarship application will consists of an application, a two page narrative, and two letters of recommendation (not a relative). The two page narrative will consist of a description of how your 4-H experience will impact your future career choices. This scholarship is in honor of Ms. Shelda Wilkens' service to Seminole County 4-H as a 4-H agent.
Applications for the S. Wilkens, Seminole County 4-H College Scholarship are due date and time TBA

Florida 4-H College Scholarships and National Award Trips

The Florida 4-H Foundation offers a number of college scholarships to eligible 4-H members. Applying for these scholarships include the completion of a Florida 4-H State Portfolio, a narrative, a personal resume using the "What are my Skills" worksheet, official high school transcripts, and two letters of recommendation. Selected individuals will be scheduled for an interview during the State 4-H University in Gainesville, FL, typically in July.

The Florida 4-H Foundation also provides eligible 4-H members an opportunity to attend National 4-H Congress and/or National 4-H Conference. Applying for these award trips is similar to applying for one of the Florida 4-H College Scholarships. Applicants will submit a Florida 4-H Sate Portfolio, a narrative, and a personal resume using the "What are my skills?" worksheet. Selected individuals will be scheduled for an interview during the State 4-H University in Gainesville, FL typically in July.  For more information, check out the Florida 4-H State Portfolio website.

 

Florida 4-H Horseman of the Year

The Florida 4-H Horse Program sponsors the Florida 4-H Horseman of the Year award and scholarship. The application includes a Florida 4-H State Portfolio, a narrative, a personal resume using the "What are my skills?" worksheet, official high school transcripts, two letters of recommendation, and finally a completed Florida 4-H Horse Record Book. Selected individuals will be scheduled for an interview during the Florida 4-H State Horse Events in Gainesville, FL, typically in June.
