Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Training Program

The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Training Program will provide financial assistance to eligible individuals for training program tuition, books and training supplies. Financial assistance will be provided to individuals that need training in order to attain employment, maintain employment or to increase employment income and/or benefits. This program will begin accepting applications through Orientation beginning at 8:15 a.m. Orientation check-in is from 8:00 a.m.-8:15 a.m., Monday and Wednesday mornings. Applications are also accepted online at APPLY.

Tuition assistance is available to eligible individuals to a school listed on the CareerSource Central Florida Approved Classes matrix.

Please Note: Seminole County and the approved school/training provider must enter into an agreement before scholarships can be provided. Seminole County has obtained agreements with the following schools for County fiscal year ending September 30, 2017.

If the school/training provider you would like to attend is not listed above it will take 60 days for an agreement to be entered into if the school/training provider is willing to work with Seminole County Government.

Community Services Block Grant - Family Self Sufficiency Program

The Family Self Sufficiency Program is a voluntary program offered to Seminole County individuals and families to help them in becoming more self-sufficient. These services help overcome the barriers to self-sufficiency and are the tools to help achieve economic independence. When individuals or families enter the program, they meet with the FSSP Case Manager to discuss their needs and to set goals. Together, the FSSP Case Manager and applicant(s) set goals that can be achieved.

This program is closed and no longer accepting applications.

Community Services Summer Day Camp Scholarships

The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) provides Summer Day Camp Scholarships to income eligible Seminole County families to send their children to a summer day camp program. The purpose of the Summer Day Camp Scholarship Program is to provide a safe environment for youth during the summer months. Additionally, this program enables youth to avoid risk-taking behavior for a defined period of time. This program pays 1 to 10 weeks of summer camp tuition/fees, depending on the day camp provider chosen.  The program is administered through the Early Learning Coalition Web-Site.

Please note that approval is based on funding and Board of County Commissioner approval. 


Community Services Extended Day Scholarships

The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) will provide Extended Day Scholarships to eligible students. The purpose of the Program is to provide a safe environment for youth before and after school while helping their parents maintain employment. Additionally, this program will enable youth to avoid risk-taking behavior for a defined period of time.

This program is no longer accepting applications, the program is now closed.

To be eligible for this program the applying household must meet the minimum criteria below:

  • Household must reside in Seminole County; and
  • Household’s income must be at or below 125% of the Federal Poverty
    Limit; and
  • One adult in the household must be working or enrolled in school full time
  • In addition, the household’s child(ren) must meet the following criteria to be determined eligible:
    • Child(ren) must reside in Seminole County (at least 50% of the time); and
    • Child(ren) must be in grades Kindergarten through 5th Grade; and
    • Child(ren) must be enrolled in Seminole County Public School system

Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Advisory Board Meeting Schedule

The CSBG Advisory Board meets every other month, on the third Thursday of the month, in the large conference room located at the Division of Community Assistance office in the Reflections Plaza, at 534 W. Lake Mary Boulevard, Sanford, FL, 32773-7400. These meetings begin at 6:15 pm. For more information, call 407-665-2300.
