Financial Assistance

Orientation (PDF)

Seminole County Community Assistance will provide an orientation to all customers applying for financial assistance services for rental/mortgage, utility, or dental. Orientations are scheduled every Monday and Wednesday with the exception of Seminole County observed holidays that fall on those days. Doors will be open for admittance: 

Mondays: 7 to 7:30 a.m.
Wednesdays: 11:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. 

In observance of Memorial Day,
the County will be closed Monday, May 28, 2012.

Please print and complete the Financial Assistance Application, all applicable additional forms and gather additional information as requested in the application prior to the orientation. If documents are missing or not completed the application process will not be able to be completed at orientation, therefore an appointment will not be provided. Due to limited spacing, only the applying applicant will be allowed in orientation.

Types of Assistance

PREVENTION ASSISTANCE
Financial Assistance is offered for Rental or Mortgage and/or utility services for qualified clients through the Prevention Assistance Program. Assistance may be provided one-time within a two-year period. This service will be offered with short-term case management for a period of 1-3 months maximum.  A household must have experienced a financial hardship and have proof of the ability to sustain and show on-going management.  If interested an orientation must be attended. 


DENTAL
Applicants must provide a written referral from a licensed dentist dated within the last 30 days. Interested applicants must attend an Orientation and provide a complete Community Assistance Application with applicable attachments at the time of orientation. Assistance is limited to one time within the County's fiscal year (October 1 through September 30).


VISION
Due to funding availability, applications for Vision will no longer be accepted after the Wednesday, April 13, 2011 orientation. Services are limited to eye exam and eye glasses. Applicants must provide a written referral from a licensed physician dated within the last 30 days. Interested applicants must attend an Orientation and provide a complete Community Assistance Application with applicable attachments at the time of orientation.


CREMATION/BURIAL
Financial Cremation/Burial Assistance for indigent Seminole County residents. Assistance for Cremation may be provided for those who die and have no insurance, unclaimed and/or are unknown individuals who die in Seminole County. Assistance with Burial may be provided for those that own a plot. Applications will be taken by appointment only.

HOMELESS PREVENTION AND RAPID RE-HOUSING PROGRAM (HPRP)

Program is currently closed and not accepting applications.
 


 TENANT BASED RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (TBRA)
TBRA provides a rental subsidy for qualified Seminole County renters to obtain decent, safe, sanitary and affordable housing. Households, at a minimum, must be at or below 50% of the median income and the head of household or spouse must meet one of the following requirements:

  • must be a full-time student, or
  • must be 62 years of age or older, or
  • must have a disability

Program is currently closed and not accepting applications. 
 


COMMUNITY SERVICES BLOCK GRANT (CSBG Regular and ARRA Services)
The Department of Community Affairs provides CSBG funds to assist eligible low-income households in attaining the skills, knowledge and motivation necessary to achieve self sufficiency. The grant provides a variety of antipoverty services. Seminole County provides a Self-Sufficiency program, Training program and a Day Camp Scholarship program. STATE HOUSING AND INITIATIVE PROGRAM (SHIP)
State funds administered through Florida Housing Finance Corporation to assist very low, low, and moderate income homeowners and renters. Provides the following programs for homeowners or potential homeowners; Purchase Assistance and Homeowner Rehabilitation.


 COMMUNITY SERVICES AGENGIES PARTNERSHIP (CSA)
This program is a Board of County Commissioner (BCC) funded initiative for supporting a variety of community service projects. If funds are available, all non-profit agencies serving Seminole County residents are eligible and may apply for funds through this program. The Division of Community Assistance provides training, support, & oversight for all contracted agencies.
