COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE
Self Sufficiency Program
The program is funded by the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) enacted by Congress and signed into law in 1998. The purpose of the federal grant is to reduce poverty, revitalize low-income communities and empower low-income families and individuals to become fully self-sufficient.
To apply, the applicant must submit an application in our office and at a minimum must provide the official verification of:
- U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residency.
- Residency in Seminole County for the past 30 days.
- Copies of valid driver license or State Identification cards for all adult members of the household.
- Verification of employment.
- Proof of monthly gross income of all members of the household.
- Copy of current class schedule(s).
- Copies of all student financial aid documentation.
- Additional documentation may be required on a case by case basis.
Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Advisory Board Meeting Schedule
The CSBG Advisory Board meets every other month, on the first Thursday of the month, in the large conference room located at the Division of Community Assistance office in the Reflections Plaza, at 534 W. Lake Mary Boulevard, Sanford, FL, 32773-7400. The meetings are held from 6:15 pm till 8:00 pm. For more information, call 407-665-2360.
