Seminole County is governed by five elected Commissioners and an appointed County Manager who oversees the day-to-day operations of the County, advises the Board, and implements Commission policies.
Jim Hartmann, County Manager, is responsible for leading an organization of approximately 1,320 employees and a budget for fiscal year 2011/2012 of 800 million dollars. Mr. Hartmann is responsible for the professional management of all programs and activities under the Board of County Commissioners. In addition, the County Manager is responsible for overseeing the County's Economic & Community Development Services, Human Resources, Resource Management, and Information Services departments.
Joseph Forte, Deputy County Manager, provides support to ensure that all ordinances, resolutions, projects, initiatives, goals, and objectives of the Board of County Commissioners are properly coordinated and executed. Mr. Forte also serves as liaison between the Board of County Commissioners and several working committees. The Deputy County Manager is also responsible for overseeing the County’s Community Services, Environmental Services, Leisure Services, Public Safety, and Public Works Departments. The Deputy County Manager acts in the role of County Manager in his or her absence.
