SCEA has several important roles in the transportation and planning areas: tracking the planning process for future toll roads located in Seminole County; influencing the decision making processes of all entities dealing with toll road facilities in the county, and protecting the interests of the citizens of Seminole County in these areas. The SCEA will play a vital part in the location and possible implementation of the extension of the Western Beltway (Wekiva Parkway) to SR417/Greeneway.
Florida Turnpike Enterprise assumed responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the Expressway and for toll collection activities. Thus, the Turnpike Enterprise retains all rights, title, revenues, liabilities and responsibilities that may be associated with the Expressway segments that are within Seminole County's boundaries.

Notice Chapter 2011-64, Laws of Florida, enacted during the 2011 Legislative Session repealed Sections 348.95 through 348.963, Florida Statutes, known as the Seminole County Expressway Authority, effective July 1, 2011, which dissolved the Seminole County Expressway Authority effective July 1, 2011.
