2009 Award for Excellence in Public Procurement


Seminole County’s Purchasing and Contracts Division

Receives “Award for Excellence in Public Procurement” from Florida Association of Public Purchasing Officers, Inc. (FAPPO) for 2009.

 

FAPPO has recognized Seminole County’s Purchasing and Contracts Division by awarding the “Excellence in Public Procurement” for 2009.  The award places emphasis on continuous process improvement and outstanding procurement practices.  The program is designed to measure innovation, professionalism, productivity and leadership attributes of the procurement function. Earning this award is a significant affirmation of the quality of the County’s procurement operation.  In order to receive consideration for the award, agencies are required to submit a detailed application with supporting documentation of accomplishments.  Seminole County Government was formally recognized during the FAPPO’s annual conference on April 6, 2009 in Orlando, Florida. 

 

Specific accomplishments include:

 

         Advances in the electronic procurement process.

         Electronic vendor registration, electronic notification process and RFQ on-line bidding.

         Saving over $17.6 million by using the competitive process.

         Strong professional procurement training, certification and ethics programs.

         An effective and responsible technical evaluation process.

         Posting of procurement information via the website.

 

Seminole County Purchasing and Contracts Division provides procurement services to the various Departments within Seminole County Government.  The County awards and administers more that $128 million of procurement actions each fiscal year, which has a tremendous impact on our local economies.

 

This award continue to have a positive impact on Seminole County’s credibility, recognition and improved bond rating.  This sends a signal that the County has the proper policies and procedures in place and takes the appropriate steps in preserving the public trust in the proper expenditure of taxpayer’s monies.
